I love the second comic because it shows the life issue...
Although the sequence of panels, the words in the speech balloon and the thought balloon are the same, the meanings of the comics are different.
Both of the comics are from the third person perspective. However, the meaning is different and I love the second one. The original one shows the life of an employee. He experienced a short moment of ‘lost’ and it won’t affect his future. For example, the last panel emphasized the man’s absent-minded. He was too busy with his work and he may just forget what he wants in front of the refrigerator as he pays full attention on his work.
However, the other one is more reflective as it brings out a life issue such as separation. The comic shows that his future may be full of uncertainty because there is a long empty road in the last panel, and the thought bubble reflects his 'lost' and worries because he don't know where he goes.
Besides the meaning, the main character is different. The original one is about a young man’s story while the other is about an old man. I love the old man and a child’s version because we can think of different life issue and situation we need to face at different ages. For example, the child and the man show a big contrast that the child could enjoy his childhood while the old man needs to consider leaving his hometown reluctantly.
Moreover, there is a focal point of the old man’s face while the original do not. The tear on the old man’s face shows his strong emotion. I can ‘feel’ his sadness when leaving his home. This make the comics more touching.
