School life is busy. However, when we stop for a while and look around, it is believed that there are lots of things waiting for our discoveries.
In the photo, there is a white sculpture putting in front of Run Run Shaw Library. At the back of sculpture, there is a black cloth with white words. Actually, the Chinese words on the cloth are talking about the June-fourth Incident. The words remind us that we should not forget the tragedy in 1989, and should continue to fight for democracy and freedom in China.
The angle of the photo is looking upwards. The photo is taken from the bottom side of the sculpture. Therefore, there sculpture looks huge, and it is just like looking up with hope.
In the part of balance, the photo is taken in an unbalance way. The sculpture is in the middle, but the cloth is at the right hand side. As the sculpture stands before the cloth, the reader put the focus on the white object. This unbalanced presentation sharpens the main focus- the sculpture.
Moreover, the contrast in this photo can deepen the connotative meaning. In this photo, the black cloth and the white sculpture catch the readers’ attention, as they make the big contrast. Under the black, it seems that the sculpture shows more brightly. It represents that we should learn from history, which is June-fourth Incident, and do not give up fighting for democracy and freedom although there are full of inequalities and darkness in the society. The white words on the black cloth emphasize that we should not forget the students sacrificed in the incident, and should follow their footprints and learn from their spirits to strive for social justice.
